NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A Wilmington family created a haunted house and invites people in the community to celebrate Halloween with them.

This is the 16th consecutive year the Branham family has created their own haunted house. It's located at 256 Foxwood Lane in the Monkey Junction area of New Hanover County.

The haunted house takes up the family's entire front and backyard.

Those who dare to enter the house will be treated to candy as they first enter. Then, visitors  will walk through different rooms... many of which are designed like scenes from scary movies, such as the Saw series and The Strangers.

The best part is admission is free.

"We've spent thousands of dollars on props and tents. Every year we get more stuff, like props and costumes. We change it up every year. It's always something different, " say the homeowners, Donna and Sid Branham.

The haunted house usually closes around 10:30pm, but since Halloween has fallen on a Saturday this year, it may stay open a bit longer. The Branhams expect about 200 kids.
