LELAND, NC (WECT) - A Leland Police officer was involved in an early morning accident Thursday, but is expected to be okay.
According to the police department, a K-9 unit was struck while traveling on Highway 133 at Blackwell Road, causing the officer to lose control, roll over, and strike a utility pole.
The officer was treated at New Hanover Regional Medical Center for minor injuries, and the driver of the other vehicle was treated and released at the scene.
The police canine in the vehicle was not injured in the accident.
