PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Members of the Pender County NAACP are investigating complaints made against a member of the county school board.
According to NAACP President Rachael Stephens, complaints have been made against board chairman Tom Roper.
In a letter Roper is accused of missing school board meetings and showing improper behaviors and attitude towards people from diverse backgrounds.
Roper, who has been on the school board for almost 16 years denies the claims made against him.
Stephens said the local chapter will work with the state to interview concerned citizens.
