WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Students in business attire competed for face time with potential employees Wednesday afternoon at the UNCW Internship and Job Fair.
A 50% decline in recruiter attendance forced the education, liberal arts, and business fairs to be merged into a single event.
"Many companies are simply not hiring right now or they don't have the budget to recruit at smaller schools like UNCW," said Leslie Wright of the UNCW Career Center in a press release.
According to UNCW, career counselors are providing more educational programs and outreach to student to help offset the stiff employment competition.
"We are looking for more community members to step up and consider hiring a Seahawk," said Wright.
The job fair was held in the Burney Center from 10:00am - 2:00pm.
