WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A UNCW program has been awarded the Silver Telly, which is the national awards' most prestigious honor.

The annual Telly Awards honor the best local, regional, and cable television commercials, programs, film productions, and web creations.

UNCW graduate students help facilitate the World at Large production.  It is a program that engages and educates the community about current issues taking place around the world through a question and answer format.  Topics discussed have involved issues such as human rights, world hunger, global politics and economics, and international law.

This is the second Telly Award for UNC Wilmington Department of Media Productions, the first earned in 2007 for The Marines of Montford Point documentary.

World won the Silver Telly for its sixth season of production in the education category. World episodes can be viewed online, http://publicservicemedia.uncw.edu/video.html.
