Three year old boy killed in Columbus Co. ATV crash

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A three year old boy was killed in an ATV accident Sunday afternoon. 

According the Nakina fire and rescue chief, the boy was one of four children riding on an ATV with no adults on the vehicle.  None of the children were over the age of nine.

Officials reported that three girls and the little boy were headed toward Seven Creeks Highway when two of the girls fell off the ATV into a field.  They were taken to Columbus Regional to be checked out and are expected to be ok.

The other two children were on the four wheeler when it drove onto the highway and was hit by an RV.

The three year old boy was air linked away from the scene but did not survive.  There's no word on the condition of the girl who was also on the ATV when the crash happened. She was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
