T-J Leifheit will wear Carolina blue next season.
The Hoggard senior gave a verbal committment to the Heels coaching staff during an official visit this past weekend.
"T-J called me about 7:15 this evening, I think he was on his way back from Chapel Hill where he had a great official visit this weekend and he gave coach Davis his committment this morning." said Hoggard head football coach Scott Braswell.
The committment ends any speculation that the offensive tackle would head to Knoxville and play for the Tennessee Volunteers. Leifheit had made back-to-back visits to Tennessee to weigh his options.
Southern Cal was also a finalist on his list of schools.
According to Braswell it all came down to relationships, "I think after this weekend I think he really realized his strong connection to North Carolina. They've been on him for about the past year and a half. They spent a lot of time with him, invested a lot of time in him and I think in the end the relationship T-J has with coach Pittman the offensive line coach was what brough him there."
At 6'7" 300 pounds, Leifheit is ranked seventh in the state at his position and 20th in the nation by scout.com.
Leifheit has started on the Hoggard offensive line since his sophomore season and helped the Vikings top cross-town rival Laney 23-6 this past Friday night. Leifheit left for his visit to Chapel Hill following the win and was on hand for the Heels win over Georgia Southern.
