An hour and a half is a long bus ride home after a loss.

Though Clinton is in our conference, they are considered one of the toughest teams that Topsail will play this year. The Black Hats came into the game with great confidence after a tremendous victory over Swansboro on Homecoming night.

That confidence quickly diminished after going down 10-0 to start the game, but scored on a long kickoff return by Nick Powers to begin the second half. After a score by a former JV player and future star for the football team, Devin Williams, the score was 14-17 in the fourth quarter. But a failed drive to win the game for the Black Hats caused Clinton score as the clock was winding down and the final score of the game was 24-14.

Both teams played but somebody has to lose. The Black Hats said they are disappointed but will look over the tape and focus on the problem areas.

Topsail is going to put this game behind them and the players say they are looking forward to this Friday's game when they travel to East Duplin, another tough opponent.
