WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wounded soldiers from Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune came together Friday for the 3rd annual Hope for the Warriors fishing tournament.
The fishing tournament is a way to show appreciation to the soldiers and thank them for their sacrifices for this country.
Wounded war veterans were given a chance to go fishing and get in a little friendly competition. The military branch that catches the most fish will win the tournament, but the warriors know it's about more than winning.
"Any day on the water is a good day," said Jeffrey Heath. "A bad day is better than a day in downtown Baghdad, Iraq."
The marines and soldiers were treated to a BBQ dinner and will get awards as part of the tournament.
