WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The City of Wilmington has been recognized for its public art work.
The International Downtown Association presented the city with an award of distinction for its participation in displaying public art seen in the downtown area.
The project was 1 of 77 award submissions the I.D.A. received this year, as part of its downtown achievement awards.
John Hinnant with Wilmington Downtown said it's an honor to be recognized.
"This program, they saw merit in and decided to award us an award of distinction," said Hinnant. "It's a very high honor because what happens is imitation becomes the highest sense of flattery and other communities will adopt programs like this."
The I.D.A. has more than 650 member organizations worldwide including: North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
