WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Community members will gather Thursday night to remember victims of domestic violence during the annual Take Back the Night rally.
Participants will march around downtown Wilmington carrying signs and ringing bells to remind the community a woman is battered every 15 seconds in the United States.
Organizers hope to spread awareness of the need to put a stop to violence against women and children.
"What this is all about is a visible reminder for our community every year and we take back the night," said District Attorney Ben David in a previous report. "Where we look at the terror that is out there and say children women men should not be living in terror."
