Thursday, October 8, 2009: New Hanover Regional Medical Center will host the 12th Annual Pink Ribbon Event at the Holiday Inn Resort in Wrightsville Beach.These events help to provide mammograms for uninsured women and comfort for those diagnosed with cancer.
The Pink Ribbon events consist of a breakfast, lunch and dinner and tickets are available for each meal. The featured speaker for the breakfast event will be local author Connie Hill, whose breast cancer diagnosis inspired her book From Lump to Laughter-The Story of Grace. Author Ellen Elizabeth Hunter will be the featured speaker for lunch and dinner. She has written eight contemporary mysteries set in the Wilmington area and her latest book, Murder at the Bellamy Mansion, is the story of a murder amidst the restoration of the museum.

Saturday, October 17, 2009: Mount Calvary A.M.E. Church, Navassa, N.C. is collaborating with Brunswick Co. Minority Infant Mortality Task Force to offer free health screenings to the surrounding communities. Individuals will be able to enjoy a healthy, nutritionous breakfast or snack while receiving these wonderful services. We will have games and prizes to give away.
The church is located at 325 Main Street, Navassa, NC, and the event will run from 9am-1pm.
