WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Employees at Cape Fear Community College donated a record amount for student scholarships.

According to the college, nearly 80% of the college's employees participated in the fund drive which accumulated $76,000 to help students in need.  The drive kicks off the foundation's annual campaign to raise support for student scholarships throughout the community.

"It's truly inspiring to see so many people give back to the college," said Kay Warren, associate director of the CFCC Foundation.

The increased demand for higher education and job training has also increased the need for scholarship funds.
