It's no surprise my commentary last week on illegal immigrants being admitted to North Carolina community colleges got a ton of response. Nearly all agreed.
Many, like Amy, were straightforward.
Do they not understand the word illegal? They should be made to obtain citizenship before being allowed to attend our colleges.
And Valerie wonders,
What does this say to foreign students that come to America for an education with proper paperwork in accordance to our laws?
Perihan issued a threat.
NEVER again will I vote yes for another bond for the community colleges.
Actually Perihan you shouldn't take your frustration out on the local community college. This decision was made in Raleigh by a state board made up of bureaucrats from around the state.
There were only a few emails that disagreed with me, but here is one.
The American way is to provide for the poorest children, not to punish them for their parent's actions. If given a chance for an education these "illegal children" are more likely to contribute to our society rather than drain it.
That's your turn on illegal immigrants being admitted to our community colleges. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
