WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Funeral arrangements have been made for a UNCW student who was killed while surfing Friday afternoon.
18-year-old John Sackett of Annapolis, MD was surfing with some friends at Wrightsville Beach when a storm brewed overhead.
Rescue crews searched for Sackett, who was possibly struck by lightning, for more than 1.5 hours. They tried to revive the college student, but were unsuccessful.
Visitation with family will be held Wednesday at Hardesty Funeral Home in Annapolis, from 2-4 pm and from 7-9 pm.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 1 at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Annapolis. The service will begin at 3:00 pm.

The Howard-Sackett family has expressed their thanks to the entire UNCW community for the well wishes and support they have received during this time of great sorrow.
UNCW friends of JT are planning a memorial service locally Saturday, Oct. 3.
