BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A man from Bladenboro was one of three people who died in a medical helicopter crash in South Carolina Friday.
39-year-old Randolph Dove was the medic on board the chopper as it went crashed nose first into heavy woods.
The pilot 45-year-old Patrick Walters of Murrells Inlet and 42-year-old nurse Diana Conner of Florence were also killed.
National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Peter Knudson says investigators want to talk with any witnesses to the Friday night crash.
According to investigators, there were no initial indications of an equipment malfunction.
Friends say Dove was known for his big smile and big dreams of becoming a paramedic.
"I feel like his calling was fulfilled and he went away doing what he wanted to do," said Patricia Brisson with Bladen County EMS. "I remember Claxton said, 'can y'all believe we're gonna get paid for what we love to do?'"
A service for Dove will take place Thursday afternoon at Sandy Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro.
Services are set Wednesday morning at St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City Beach for Walters.
The family of Conner has requested no service.
