OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - The Coast Guard's hearings into a fatal parasailing accident wrapped up Friday with testimony from the president of the Professional Association of Parasail Operations.
Cynthia Woodcock and Lorrie Shoup died in a parasailing accident off Ocean Isle Beach, August 28.
Owner of the parasailing operation involved, Barrett McMullan, testified the tow rope cut loose, so the captain and First Mate Christopher Eckert tried to chase down the parachute to rescue the women. After various attempts it was too late.
During Thursday's hearings it was determined that weather and rough water conditions could have played a role in the death of the women. Boat Captain Thomas Povazan, said he was unaware of any weather advisory the day of the incident.
