NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Town and county officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday to mark the completion of the Carolina Beach Entryway Enhancement Project.
Newly planted Oak Trees, Maples, and various flowers welcome residents and visitors from the Snow's Cut Bridge to Town Hall.
Town Mayor Joel Macon says it's important for visitors to get a good first impression once they've entered the island.
"There is no question that the reaction from the citizens and the visitors, while it was undergoing, was very positive," said Macon. "We've had quite a few people mention it to me and didn't even know who I was, actually."
The town used a grant from the Department of Transportation to pay for the $60,000 landscaping project.
