CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WECT) - Cape Fear Community College has a new weather station on its north campus.
The station is outside the Applied Technologies building, and indicates temperature, humidity, rainfall totals, and more.
The station is just the first part of a larger project to create, capture, and measure alternative energy.
You can see the data collected from the weather station on weatherunderground.com.
"It's been very good reaction," said Shawn Russell with CFCC's Engineering Department. "In fact, those people who are real interested in the weather, I got calls right away and they wanted the information and a lot of people are surprised how much rain we get out here and how hot the sun is."
The next step in the project is to add a live web cam on top of the weather station.
