NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A New Hanover County man is stuck with the bill for repairs to his vehicle after someone threw a log at his windshield.
Hobie Weaver and his nephew were driving along I-40 late Monday night when he saw two people standing on the Highway 117 overpass. He said one of them threw a log that hit his windshield and cracked it.
"Next thing I knew, it sounded like an explosion," said Weaver. "I know I swerved into the other lane - it was instinct. I pulled over to the shoulder of the road. We went to see if we could catch them, but they ran off."
Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene, but the two people who were seen standing on the overpass were never found.
Now, Weaver is spending over $300 to have the windshield replaced.
"My deductible didn't cover it, so I'm having to pay for these idiots doing whatever they are doing," said Weaver.
Weaver said he feels lucky that neither he nor his nephew were injured after this scary incident.
