WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Golfers teed off in Wilmington Monday to help raise money for families with sick children.
The Wade family lost their 5-year-old daughter, Emily, to an inoperable brain tumor in 2006. The family stayed in the Ronald McDonald House while Emily was receiving treatments.
Monday, the Wade family, along with the Price family whose daughter Sarah also died from a brain tumor, held a golf tournament to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill.
"These two girls were very good friends," said Emily's father Happy Wade. "They were both in the choir together. They were both in nursery together. They grew up together. We've known the family for 15, 16 years. So we decided this was a great way to honor both of these little girls."
Organizers hoped to raise $50,000 with this event.
