HAMPSTEAD, NC (WECT) - More than 40 local artists took part in the 3rd annual Creative Artists of Hampstead Art Show by displaying their art at Poplar Grove plantation Sunday.

A portion of the money raised at the art show will help area schools buy art supplies.  Gerry Nelson an organizer of the event said it is a privilege to show off the work of local artists.

"We have so many very talented artists," said Nelson. "I think for the public to come in and see and be aware of the talent that is available in this area is the main reason."

Last year artists raised $1,200 at the event. This year organizers said they won't be surprised if they raise less because of the economy.
