WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - One Wilmington man says he's being overcharged by the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority, which is only part of a continuing trend of bill problems.

Raymond Bray is a professional lawn maintenance engineer and knows a thing or two about irrigation.  But when he talked to the water company about his outrageous bill they said he could have a leak.

"Their comments to me were, 'Maybe your irrigation is running, or maybe you have a leak in the house,'" said Bray.  "I have no leak and I don't have irrigation."

Bray said for months he's been receiving bills for $64 dollars with the indication that he's used 7,000 gallons of water.

"The following month I got a bill for $102.50 for usage of 14,000 gallons," said Bray.

Now, every month, he receives the same total on his bill.

Bray is a single man and said he hasn't changed the way he's used water in his home.

"It probably has to do with the field staff," said Bray.  "Hopefully they will get in touch with me and everyone else about their bills."
