PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - After two years of renovations, North Carolina's oldest train depot will re-open in a couple weeks.
Construction on Burgaw's train depot was expected to cost $3 million, but ultimately only cost $1 million.
The depot will feature a fully equipped kitchen, bathrooms, and a reception area.
According to Mayor Pete Cowan, it will serve as an economic engine. A few weddings have already been booked for the depot.
Cowan said the Chamber of Commerce is already receiving calls for Christmas parties.
