WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Red Knights International Firefighters Motorcycle Club will host a memorial ride this weekend in honor of 343 firefighters who lost their lives in service of humanity.
The event will kickoff Sept. 11 at the Beach House on Market Street from 8-12am. Saturday morning the 343 Memorial Ride will leave under escort from Britt Motorsports at 10:00.
Each of the first 343 motorcycles registered for the ride will receive a laser etched "dog tag" upon which will be engraved the names of the firefighters who lost their lives in the attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
There will be a lunch and a raffle when the ride is complete. All proceeds from the event will benefit the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill.
Riders may register at Britt Motorsports during their regular business hours anytime until 9:45 Saturday morning. The cost of registration is $25.00 per motorcycle and an additional $10.00
