Free waste disposal at Brunswick County landfill

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Brunswick County residents will be able to get rid of unwanted items that are not typically picked up with regular trash service this week.

The county's fall clean up week will be held Sept. 14-19.  Residents will be able to dispose of materials, except regualr household trash and land clearing debris, for free.

To wrap up the clean up week, the Brunswick County Solid Waste Department will be at the Southport Wal-Mart from 9:00am to 2:00pm Sept. 19 to collect hazardous waste and old electronics.  Additionally they will be collecting unwanted clothing to donate to Brunswick Family Assistance.

Landfill hours are Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm.

Free Dump Week at the Brunswick County Landfill
Residents of Brunswick County may bring items, except for household trash, new construction debris and vegetative debris, to the County Landfill in Bolivia free of charge. Location: 172 Landfill Road (Off Galloway Rd.) in Bolivia. Telephone: 253-8101 Facility Hours: Monday through Saturday 8:00 am - 4:00pm. Commercial vehicles will be charged normal tipping fees.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

The Brunswick County Solid Waste Department will be at the Southport Wal-Mart from 9:00am to 2:00pm to collect household hazardous waste. Items such as used oil, old paint, cleaning supplies, batteries, etc. will be taken free of charge from residents of Brunswick County. Some items are recycled.

Electronics Recycling

The Brunswick County Solid Waste Department will be at the Southport Wal-Mart from 9:00am to 2:00pm collecting electronics for recycling. Items such as cell phones, PCs, radios, TVs, etc. will be taken free of charge from residents of Brunswick County.

Clothing Drive

The Brunswick County Solid Waste Department will be at the Southport Wal-Mart from 9:00am to 2:00pm collecting used clothing. Items will be donated to Brunswick Family Assistance.
