WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A man involved in an accident with his pregnant wife was reunited Friday with the man who saved his family.

Richard Klesius, Jr. was driving east on Shipyard Blvd. with his pregnant wife when they accidentally ran the red light at Independence Boulevard.

Police reports show Klesius was hit by a Pontiac that was headed north on Independence Boulevard.

The impact pushed Klesius' vehicle into the woods just feet away from a ditch. Moments later he says a man wearing an Independence Mall security shirt rushed over and saved his pregnant wife's life.

"Thanks for caring for someone who doesn't know how to care about himself," said Klesius. "He could have been on the way home or on the way to his family. He was the reason the EMS got here so quick. Had it taken any longer, I am sure a miscarriage would have been involved. I didn't have the ability to get on my cell phone."

Klesius' wife is in good condition.  No charges were filed in the accident.
