BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Investigators in Brunswick County say they are in the process of solving dozens of breaking and entering cases.
Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office say they've had an unusually high number of houses getting broken into in the same neighborhoods.
Last week authorities arrested two men in connection with more than 20 cases in the Shallotte area. They say they have a person of interest for about a dozen homes that have been broken into within the last three weeks in the Pine Valley area of Supply.
"It's almost as if you leave a part of yourself at every scene that you go to," said Detective Edward Carter with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office. "Eventually we find enough information or we find enough of that evidence that we can link it back to the individual responsible. It just takes time."
Carter says drugs are more likely to blame for the recent theft cases, not the economy.
