NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - New Hanover Regional Medical Center is asking the public for help in getting a new ambulance.
The emergency vehicle would be used to transport children to the Betty H. Cameron Women and Children's Hospital.
Throughout the week, volunteers have been reaching out to the public through the media and over the phone asking for funds. The goal is to reach $125,000, which would match the grant from the Eshelman Foundation.
"We have seen a growing concern in the community to be able to provide services to our sickest patients," said Gabby Pike with NHRMC. "This ambulance is going to allow us to bring those patients into our own hospital and keep our families here at home and provide care for them here."
The total cost of the ambulance is $250,000. Make a pledge by visiting, nhrmcfoundation.org.
