BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Brunswick County Health Department is offering seasonal flu vaccinations and H1N1 vaccinations for those who qualify.
Seasonal flu shots will be available in Brunswick County beginning September 1. There are no restrictions from the CDC, so anyone may receive the seasonal flu immunization.
The cost of the seasonal flu shot is $35 or free with Medicare Part B or Medicaid. The health department also accepts private insurance.
According to the Brunswick County Health Department, plans for the H1N1 vaccine have not been finalized yet, but the CDC expects to have a vaccine ready by mid-October.
Not everyone will be eligible for the H1N1 vaccination, including those who are 65 years or older. For more questions and answers about the vaccine, visit the CDC website by clicking here.
Appointments are required to receive a shot. Shots will only be given to persons whose names are on the list.
To make an appointment, call the Flu Line at 253-2344 or 253-2364 and leave your name and phone number. You will be called and informed when to come to the health department for your shot.
Appointment calls will not be made until the vaccine supply arrives. Be sure to state whether you are interested in seasonal flu vaccine, H1N1 vaccine or both.
