NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A lightning strike damaged a home in New Hanover County Friday afternoon.

The homeowners said lightning struck two trees and then caused a large explosion.  They said the explosion even caused some vinyl siding to fall off their porch.

"I consider myself fortunate,"  by Bud Lackock the homeowner. "If these trees had not been here, the roof top is probably where the lightning would have entered. It could have been a lose at that point so we're fortunate."

Insurance adjusters are scheduled to appraise the damages Monday.
