Wilm. man arrested for possession of 57 bags of heroin

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County Sheriff's Vice and Narcotics Division has arrested a Wilmington man as a result of a two-week narcotics investigation.

During the investigation authorities discovered 33-year-old Demetrious Antonio Wright had 57 bags of heroin stamped with "million dollar baby," a street value of $2,200.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, the investigation revealed Wright was distributing a substantial amount of heroin in New Hanover County.

"Not only was he selling a significant amount of heroin, he was also state wanted for parole violations since October 2008," said Captain D.A. Ciamillo of the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotic Division in a statement.  "He has made every attempt to evade law enforcement, but wasn't so lucky today."

Wright was charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a vehicle for drugs and parole violation.
