Winning Powerball ticket sold in SC

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Someone is the lucky winner of over $250 million and they haven't even stepped forward yet.

A winning Powerball ticket worth $259,900,000 was sold at Murphy's USA # 7057 at 7530 Garners Ferry Rd., in front of the Walmart.

It's the highest Powerball to be won all year across the nation, and the largest winning Powerball ticket sold in South Carolina.

Lottery officials confirmed the win at the convenience store, but did not have the winner's name just yet.

The Powerball jackpot starts at $20 million and grows until it's hit. The jackpot is then reset to $20 million when the prize is claimed.

According to the South Carolina Education Lottery website, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are about 1 in 195,249,054.

In May 2008, a 19-year-old Gaston man won $35.3 million on his first time playing the Powerball. His winning numbers were 12-14-15-21-43, Powerball: 30. The Power Play number was 3.
