BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A couple drivers in Brunswick County have recently experienced terrifying road trips. Sizeable rocks crashed into their windshields while they were driving at top speeds.

The incidents happened along Highway 74-76 near Leland. Angela Justice was traveling along that stretch of highway Tuesday night when a rock smashed into her vehicle.

"All of the sudden something flew into my windshield," said Justice. "It startled me. It kind of caused me to veer off the road just a little."

Seconds later, David Stokley's taxi was also hit.

"I called 9-1-1 and had them come out," said Stokley. "There were four or five different reports."

WECT News visited the site and found rocks of all sizes along the highway's edge. Police say the suspects in this rock-throwing crime are all minors.

None of them have been caught.

"If that rock hit any higher up on my windshield it would have hit my face or head, and I could have passed out and injured someone," said Justice.

So far police say drivers who have been hit have only suffered property damage. Though Stokley wants the rock throwers stopped before someone is seriously hurt.

"I have kids," said Stokley. "What if one of those rocks hit one of my kids? It would kill them."
