WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Starting Monday, Aug. 17 part of an access road in Wilmington will temporarily be closed for sewer repairs. Drivers traveling on MacMillian Avenue won't be able to turn onto College Road.
Cape Fear Public Utility Authority originally suggested drivers cut through the College strip mall. Several businesses owners in the strip mall said they were concerned that the suggested detour would cause more car accidents, but some nearby residents said they didn't mind the detour plans.
"I don't think it'll make too much of a difference," said Jeremy Smith. "It's not that busy of a shopping center. Too many people don't drive through here. It won't effect too much."
CFPUA sent out a release Monday saying the route has changed to Hamilton to Hurst off of Macmillan to College Road.
The repairs to the sewer main are expected to be completed by Friday.
