WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Workers at J. Michael's Philly Deli on Oleander Drive made a 79-foot cheese steak Sunday to celebrate the restaurant's anniversary.

The restaurant opened in 1979, so the owners decided it would be fitting to construct a cheese steak 79 feet long.  The cheese steak took around 20 minutes to build. It was filled with 40 pounds of cheese and 70 pounds of steak.

After the celebration onlookers were able to enjoy the sandwich.  Workers at J. Michael's say they are planning to submit the entry to the Guinness Book of World Records to see if the cheese steak qualifies as the largest.
