WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Tabor City Police Chief is asking District Attorney Rex Gore to officially investigate North Carolina's longest serving state senator.
Chief Donald Dowless wants the district attorney to look into allegations made by three of Senator RC Sole's legal clients, including public statements made by Stacey Scott that the Senator had molested him when he was a minor.
Senator Soles has filed several trespassing reports against Scott, who is one of his clients.
Gore said the start of the investigation is standard practice.
"The chief made the request for the investigation," said Gore. "Certain allegations were made that if there is sufficient evidence to prove and support them, it could possibly lead to criminal charges."
Tabor City Police have also requested assistance from the SBI due to the severity of the allegations.
