NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A public meeting will be held Thursday evening to discuss a new water filtration facility in the Ogden area.
The Nano Groundwater Treatment Plant is located near Ogden and will provide water to 17,000 households in New Hanover County.
The facility was built to improve the quality of water and provide alternatives to filtration measures like water softeners often used by homeowners.
The public meeting will take place Thursday evening at Ogden Elm. from 6:00 - 8:00.
"The water quality itself will be equivalent to what the customers in the city of Wilmington have been receiving from the Sweeney plant over the years, and we believe they'll be pleased," said Gary McSmith with the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority.
The facility is expected to officially open within the next month.
