A very cold winter in southeast North Carolina

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -The winter of 2009-2010 will likely be one for the history books in southeast North Carolina.  Wilmington's average temperature for: December, January, and February is running almost four degrees below normal.

The last time Wilmington had a monthly temperature above normal was November.  That month the average temperature was 1.3 degrees above normal.

Since then it has been a downward slide with each month from December to February getting progressively colder.  So far February is running more than seven degrees below normal!

In the coming days milder weather will return and we should even see highs above normal Sunday and Monday.  Colder weather may return by midweek.
