WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Firefighters and community members gathered Sunday to raise money for a local firefighter who was killed in Baghdad almost two months ago.
Local fire departments partnered with Carolina First Bank and the Mayfaire shopping center to host a family fun day. There were desserts, games, and the Wilmington Big Band entertained the crowd. All the money raised went to Sergeant First Class Ed Kramer's wife and two daughters.
"It's important not to forget," said Kevin Fitzgerald of Sunny Point Fire Rescue. "Especially the big sacrifice that took place. Ed was all about community. He loved being a firefighter and serving his country. And it's really we need not to forget the other solders who were gone and did not come back."
If you would like to donate to Kramer's family, go to any Carolina First Bank Branch.
