WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - There may not be enough rooms to accommodate those who will travel to the new convention center when it opens in 2010.
Construction of Hotel Indigo was expected to begin in August, but has been delayed again.
The hotel's developer, Wilmington River Group, failed to buy the necessary property from the city. In April, city council first gave the group a time extension to purchase the land where the hotel will sit.
During a meeting earlier this year, Wilmington River Group Owner Steven Arp was confident the hotel will be complete in time.
"We have a contract with the city that the hotel will be completed in time," said Arp in a previous report. "We will work 24 hours a day if we have to."
City council is scheduled to discuss what to do with the property during Tuesday night's city council meeting.
The council has to decide whether to give Wilmington River Group another extended deadline to close the deal or start over from scratch.
