WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - An official NASA spacesuit dating back to the late 1950's landed in Wilmington, to be auction off online through Ebay.

The spacesuit was made in 1959 for the Mercury Space Program, and was the first suit to be worn by a NASA astronaut.

The helmet, boots, gloves, and rest of the suit is being sold on Ebay for a starting price of $50,000.

Now with three days left, the price has drastically dropped to $15,000.  So far no one has bid on the original spacesuit.

Calvin Barnes is the owner of the Mail Room and is selling the suit for the anonymous owner.

"We have never had anything this unique in the past," said Barnes.  "Typically it's just household items that people sell on Ebay."

The online auction will end Saturday, August 8, and someone could own this piece of history.
