WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - More people in Wilmington will be able to eat thanks to stimulus money from the American Recovery Act.

$100 million went to food banks around the country as part of the emergency feeding assistance program.

The Wilmington food bank has been able to get close to 30,000 additional pounds of food in June and 55,000 pounds of food in July.

With the money, food banks have also been able to purchase new refrigerators and freezers.

Officials with the food bank said any donations during the summer months is helpful.
