NEW HANOVER CO., NC (WECT) - New Hanover County sheriff's deputies arrested a teenager who they say was trying to collect money illegally.
They charged 17-year-old Christopher Swart with obtaining property by a false pretense and resisting an officer.
Residents of King's Grant called authorities Tuesday night to say someone was going door-to-door collecting money for a fire department.
Deputies say Swart later said he was not associated with the department.
He is out of jail on bond.
