PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - People in Pender County are trying to raise money to help restore the Burgaw Train Depot.
The depot began decaying in 2006, but has since been partially repaired. According to town officials, 75% of the restoration process is complete with new office space, a reception area, and a commercial kitchen.
The remaining renovations is estimated to cost about $300,000, but there is no more grant money.
The Town of Burgaw is planning a fundraiser in hopes that town residents will get involved with the restoration.
Once money is raised the rest of the work should only take about a month.
