WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Some local artists are teaching kids how to create environment inspired artwork.

Children from across the country are participating in UNCW's first art Sea Camp this week.

Artists will teach students techniques inspired from our surrounding marine environment.

Wednesday the camp-goers painted surf art in the Cultural Arts Building on UNCW's campus.

"So I really am interested in art, and it's offered me a lot of opportunities for that," said middle school student Shay Gregory from Maryland.  "So I guess I sort of just wanted to make my talent, sort of open it up a little more."

Friday the students will have a chance to showcase their artwork at the Art Sea Show which will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM in the UNCW Cultural Arts Building lobby.
