WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A large chess set designed in Wilmington is looking to make its next move.

Members of the Wilmington Area Woodturners Association came together to design and construct a Kachina Chess Set.

The team used the concept of Southwest images to develop the game.  It is fashioned after traditional Kachina dolls passed down by Native Americans.

The set was entered into the Chapter Collaborative Challenge at the American Association of Woodturners National Conference in Albuquerque in June.

The set has since been returned to Wilmington, and the chapter is looking to showcase it in various locations throughout southeastern North Carolina.
