WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Harry Potter fans flocked to theaters across the country Tuesday evening to be the first to see the newest movie in the series.

In Wilmington, some Potter faithfuls spent the day watching a marathon of the films at Carmike Cinema beginning at 9:00 in the morning.

At least 1,000 tickets were sold in Wilmington for the midnight showings, and Carmike dedicated all 16 of their screens to the flick.

"I've seen all of them and I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, so I'm excited," said Harry Potter fan Leanna Tyndall.  "I'm excited to see the new one. It's going to be good."

Carmike Cinema said they had around 4,000 seats available for Tuesday night's showing of the movie.

The earliest they could start to roll the film was 12:01 AM.
