WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington's Brigade Boys and Girls Club is running its first annual Stuff the Backpack Campaign.
Employees are asking people in the community to donate school supplies and backpacks for children who are in financial need.
The goal is to supply 100 backpacks filled with school supplies. As of Tuesday evening the club already had 54 packs.
"The teachers cuts are coming this year, their supplies are less they have available for them at the school, so it's even more important that the community reach out and help to those that may need school supplies this year," said Angie Hill with the Brigade Boys and Girls Club.
Backpack donations end August 12.
