BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The North Carolina Troopers Association practiced a ceremony seen at many military and law enforcement funerals Wednesday.

Troopers in the highway patrol caisson unit were working on their quarterly training.

The caisson is a horse drawn wagon used to transport a funeral casket.  The procession is used for anybody who passes away in law enforcement.

"The lost member inside the casket carried themselves with pride and we want to display that as we're carrying them," said Trooper Greg Steffens.  "And love ones, families and friends, they want to see that."

Current members of the caisson unit have received extensive training from the US Army Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery.
